Need Heads or Tails in seconds? Tap Flip and watch a 3D coin spin on the table - fair, visible, and easy to share on a phone, projector, or live stream.
Unlike a dice roller, a coin flip is built for exactly two outcomes with even odds. SpinWheelPlus lets you run one toss or up to 25 coins at once, pick gold, silver, or copper faces, and send your whole table in one share link - free, no app, no account.
When Is a Coin Flip the Right Tool?
Reach for a coin when you only need two choices and want everyone to see the same result at once.
- Who goes first - board games, pickup sports, or video-call turn order
- Pre-match toss - kickoff, serve, or which side of the field (cricket, football, tennis-style calls)
- Yes vs no with stakes - who pays, who picks the movie, or which dare wins (for labeled prompts without stakes, try the yes or no generator)
- Class demos - 50/50 probability, streaks, and "is the coin due?" conversations
Need three or more numbered outcomes, RPG modifiers, or a full dice bag? Switch to the dice roller. Need names, teams, or a long custom list? Build a spin wheel or use the random number generator.
A Short History of the Coin Toss
People have settled ties with coins for centuries. Romans played navia aut caput ("ship or head") from the images stamped on their coins. Today referees still flip before kickoff, captains call in the air, and friends settle small bets the same way: one toss, two sides, no debate.
That simplicity is why the coin toss never really went away - even in a digital age, a clear Heads or Tails on screen beats arguing over a coin that rolled under the couch.
Who Uses an Online Coin Flip?
- Players and captains - fair start without searching pockets
- Teachers - live 50/50 trials, Heads/Tails charts, and independence of flips
- Streamers and hosts - chat polls, giveaways, and visible calls
- Families and friends - quick tie-breaks at game night
- Facilitators - break a 50/50 deadlock in meetings when two options stay tied
Real Scenarios
Sports and game night
Call Heads or Tails before the flip, then read the result together. On a video call, share your screen so both sides see the same landing - no "I didn't see it" disputes.
Classroom: runs in history and the gambler's fallacy
Flip ten times and scroll Flip results. If you see five Heads in a row, ask: "Is Tails due?" Session stats shows your Heads/Tails split and flip count on this device - the answer is always no: each flip stays 50/50. Download history as .txt if you want students to chart runs on paper.
Multi-coin: "all Heads" odds
Add three coins and flip together. All three Heads happens about 1 in 8 (12.5%) - not because the tool is broken, but because fair coins multiply odds. Try five coins and predict before you flip; session stats help you check the long run.
How Random Is Each Flip?
Every flip uses crypto.getRandomValues() in your browser - the same Web Crypto API used for secure session tokens - not a repeating pattern you can guess. Heads and Tails each keep a 50% chance on every toss, no matter what landed before.
Over hundreds of flips the split evens out. In a short session, lopsided runs are normal - that is real randomness, not a loaded coin.
Your 3D Coin Table
The interactive table is the main event on this page. Here is how each part maps to what you see.
Gold, silver, and copper
Under Add coin, pick a metal for each new coin. Colors help you tell coins apart on stream or in class - they do not change the 50/50 odds. Tap a coin in Your coins to swap its metal anytime.
One coin or many
You start with one gold coin and can build a table up to 25 coins. With two or more coins, the main button reads Flip all; with a single coin it reads Flip. After a multi-flip, the result line shows a split such as 2 Heads · 1 Tails, plus a per-coin line like H - T - H. Use the copy button beside the result to paste the outcome into chat.
Click on coin: flip all vs flip one
Open Coin table options (gear icon on the table). Under Click on coin, the default is Flip all coins - tapping any coin on the 3D canvas flips every coin on the table. Switch to Flip one coin to re-toss only the coin you tap (useful for best-of-three on a single coin). Press Space anytime to flip all coins from the keyboard.
Flip results and session stats
Flip results lists recent tosses saved on this device (preview of 10; View all for the full list, up to 200 entries). Download .txt exports history; Clear starts fresh. The gear menu also opens View flip history while you stay in fullscreen.
Session stats summarizes flip count, Heads/Tails percentages, and bar charts - including Heads count per flip when you run multi-coin tables - so you can discuss fairness without a spreadsheet.
Share, export, and reset
Share copies a URL that restores your coin metals, order, and click mode. Setup → Export setup… / Import setup… moves the same layout as a JSON file. Reset to default returns to one gold coin with flip-all click behavior.
Fullscreen and sound
Choose Fullscreen in the gear menu for a projector or OBS capture. Toggle Sound on / Sound off when you need a quiet classroom.
Why Not Just Flip a Real Coin?
Physical coins work until they do not: worn edges can skew results, a toss off-camera starts arguments, and nobody has change in a Zoom call. A shared digital toss lands the same for every viewer and logs history if you want to review the session later.
Flat "coin flip" widgets online often skip multi-coin tables, session stats, copyable results, and share links. This page is built for repeat use - game nights, lessons, and streams - alongside other free tools on SpinWheelPlus.
