Count: 1 number
Need a fair number from 1 to 100, a lottery-style ticket draw, or a batch of sample IDs? Set your minimum and maximum, tap Generate Numbers, and read the result on screen - free in your browser, with no app or account.
SpinWheelPlus supports ranges from -1,000,000 to 1,000,000, up to 500 numbers per run, comma-separated exclusions, and optional roll animation so an audience can watch digits shuffle before the final draw appears.
What Is a Random Number Generator?
A random number generator (RNG) picks one or more integers from a range you define. Instead of shaking dice or pulling slips from a hat, you set Min Number and Max Number, choose how many values you need, and generate - every value in range keeps an equal chance on each draw.
Before computers, researchers used published random digit tables - RAND Corporation's 1955 book A Million Random Digits was a standard tool for decades. Modern browsers produce the same quality of randomness locally in milliseconds through the Web Crypto API.
When Is an RNG the Right Tool?
- Raffles and giveaways - draw winning ticket numbers in a defined range
- Classrooms - pick a student number, generate data sets, or demo probability
- Research and sampling - random IDs, A/B splits, or survey picks with exclusions
- Games - turn order, challenge numbers, or quick picks when you need more than 1-6
- Work and events - queue order, seat draws, or meeting icebreakers
Only two outcomes and 50/50 odds? Use the coin flip. Fixed polyhedral faces like D6 or D20? Use the dice roller. Named options or a visual spin for an audience? Build a spin wheel or try the yes or no generator for labeled prompts.
Real Scenarios
Raffle ticket draw
Sell tickets numbered 1-500. Set Min to 1 and Max to 500, generate one number, and read the winner aloud. If some tickets were voided, add them to Exclude Numbers so they never appear.
Classroom data set
Ask students to predict whether 7 will show up more often after three sevens in a row - then generate 1-100 repeatedly and discuss independence. Each draw stays independent; streaks are normal, not proof the tool is biased.
Sample without certain IDs
Pick ten random user IDs from 1000-9999 but skip a block of reserved numbers. Enter exclusions as a comma-separated list, turn Repeat in One Draw off, and generate ten unique values in one click.
Key Benefits
- Free in your browser - no download, subscription, or login
- Wide range - -1,000,000 through 1,000,000
- Batch draws - presets 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10, or Custom up to 500
- Exclude list - skip ticket numbers or IDs that must not appear
- Unique or repeating draws - control duplicates within one generate
- History and export - copy results, download .txt, restore past draws on this device
- Mobile-friendly - works on phones, tablets, and classroom displays
How Random Is Each Draw?
Every number uses crypto.getRandomValues() in your browser - the same Web Crypto API used for secure session tokens - not a predictable seeded script. Each value in your range keeps an equal, independent chance on every generate.
When Roll Animation is on, digits shuffle on screen for about 2.5 seconds. The final result is chosen immediately; the animation is display-only and does not change the outcome.
Features on This Page
The generator sits in two panels - Options on the left (when docked) and Your Random Numbers on the right. The guide below labels every control; the sections after it walk through each one in more detail.
Min Number and Max Number
Set the inclusive range for every draw. Defaults are 1 and 100; you can go from -1,000,000 to 1,000,000. If Min is greater than Max, the tool still works - values are treated as low to high.
Exclude Numbers (optional)
Enter comma-separated values to remove from the pool - for example 1, 5, 10. Excluded numbers never appear in any draw until you remove them from the list. This is different from turning off repeats: exclude shrinks the pool; repeat controls whether the same value can show twice in one batch.
How Many Numbers?
Tap a preset - 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 - or choose Custom and enter any count up to 500. The footer shows how many numbers the next generate will produce.
Repeat in One Draw
On: the same number can appear more than once in a single result (for example 3, 3, 7). Off: every number in that draw must be unique. If you request more unique values than the range allows after exclusions, generation fails with an error - widen the range or allow repeats.
Roll Animation
On: numbers shuffle on screen for about 2.5 seconds before the final values appear; the button reads Rolling... during the animation. Off: results show instantly. Fairness is unchanged either way - the draw is fixed before the animation plays.
Generate Numbers, Copy All, and keyboard shortcuts
Generate Numbers runs a new draw with your current options. Copy All copies the latest result as comma-separated text. Press Enter or Space to generate quickly from the keyboard.
Recent History
Each generate is saved on this device. Recent History shows a preview of the latest entries (up to 18 visible; Show full opens the complete list, up to 100 stored draws). Tap a row to restore that draw. Download .txt exports the history file; Clear wipes the list when you start fresh.
Options dock and fullscreen
On large screens, use the panel toggle beside the results area to show or hide the Options column. Fullscreen on the results panel helps projectors and live streams - options stay available when docked is on.
Random Number Generator vs Our Other Tools
- Random number generator - any integer range, batch draws, exclusions, export history
- Coin flip - exactly two outcomes, 50/50, sports-style Heads or Tails
- Dice roller - D4-D20 polyhedral faces, RPG modifiers, shareable dice table
- Yes or no generator - quick labeled binary prompts
- Random name picker - shuffle and pick from a name list
- Spin wheel - custom labels, colors, and a visual spin for groups
Why Use SpinWheelPlus?
Spreadsheet formulas like RANDBETWEEN work, but they are awkward on a phone, hard to read aloud in a raffle, and do not keep a draw log on the spot.
One-line widgets often stop at a single 1-100 pick. Here you get exclusions, batch counts, repeat control, animation for an audience, and downloadable history - alongside other free tools on SpinWheelPlus.
When the draw needs names, teams, or a shuffled list instead of integers, try the shuffle list or random team generator.
