Review policyStuck on dinner again? Same. Load a few real options, spin once, and move on. No app store. No signup unless you want to save the wheel for next time.
This What's for Dinner Wheel is a random dinner picker for the nights when nobody wants to choose. Not a recipe blog. Not a restaurant map. Just a quick dinner decision you can edit in under a minute.
Remove anything nobody will eat tonight.
Add realistic options. Leftovers count. Takeout counts. Freezer food counts.
Agree the rule: land it, eat it. One veto each if you need an escape hatch.
Spin.
Hate the result? Spin again. Or don't. That's kinda the point of the rule.
The defaults are only a starting point. Swap them for what you actually cook, order, or finish from last night.
Quick meals: pasta, stir-fry, rice bowl, eggs / brinner
Leftovers and freezer finds
Takeout (your usual spot is fine)
Family favorites: tacos, soup, salad + protein, sheet pan / grill
Cook's choice: whoever is cooking picks, no debate
Keep the list around 8-12 options if the wheel starts feeling crowded. Too many and you're just scrolling delivery apps in your head again.
Love tacos but still want variety? Raise theweight on tacos.
Higher weight = larger slice = selected more often. Still random. Just not equal odds anymore.
Clear the defaults and build the dinner wheel your house will actually use.
Add your own meals, sides, or "whatever Mom makes on Thursdays"
Drop foods you are sick of this week
Use restaurant names instead of dishes when you are ordering out
Make a family version, a cheap-night version, a healthier weeknight version, or a pure takeout wheel
Want a blank canvas instead? Open the spin wheel editor and paste your own list, or grab another starting point from templates.
If an option is not realistic tonight, it should not be on the wheel. You'll just keep re-spinning.
Helps: couple or roommate standoffs, family "idk, you pick," picking takeout without a 20-minute chat, spinning a few times on Sunday for a rough week of dinner ideas.
Doesn't: empty fridge plus fantasy meals. If you can't cook it or get it soon, leave it off. The wheel can't invent groceries. Need a simpler coin-flip style call? Try yes or no.
Same tool, different loadouts:
Family dinner: kid-safe favorites plus one wild card
Date night: cook in vs go out, or 4-5 restaurants you both like
Healthy dinner: only meals you will actually make when tired
Cheap dinner: pantry / freezer / leftovers only
Takeout: nearby spots, not "every cuisine on earth"
Comfort food: the heavy hitters when the day was rough
Try something new: one new option next to familiar backups so a new pick still feels safe
